KCB “Pop Up Party” season kicks off this Saturday at Sahd Metal Recycling

LISA LANDIS~  Hi Kids Cookie Breakers.  I am so excited because the KCB “Pop UP Party” season begins this weekend at Sahd Metal Recycling.  It’s the BIG Earth Day event at Sahd Metal Recycling.  FREE family fun with so much to do!  Here is a list of the events happening this Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Sahd Metal Recycling in Columbia, PA.

YARD TOURS featuring Cranes, Trains, and Shears 10am and 12pm.

LIVE ANIMAL Education shows at 11am and 1230pm

25 vendors specializing in Reducing, Reusing and Recycling!

Free Rita’s Ice Columbia In-Store Voucher for all kids who complete the passport book.

BOY SCOUTS can earn portions of Sustainability and Metalworking merit badges.

Food vendors supporting the Columbia Food Bank and Sahd Metal Recycling Bake Sale.

KCB goodies like Chick-fil-A cookies, door prizes, KCB music, games, live requests & more.

Earth Day at Sahd Metal Recycling happens rain or shine.  Visit the website here and download the safety waiver and information for faster check-in on the day of the event.  Extra Parking at Glatfelter’s Field, two blocks west of Sahd Metal Recycling.

KCB Celebrates SPRING & meets the girls behind The Princess Experience

LISA LANDIS~ Happy SPRING Kids Cookie Breakers!  It’s officially spring and we are celebrating at the 10 o’clock theme party.  Listen in for “spring songs” like, “Hello Spring” from Steve Courtney & Five Iron Frenzy’s “A Flowery Song” and we can’t forget “Twenty Eight Scoops of Ice Cream” by Brent Holms.

For the second half of the show KCB takes a special field trip.  From 10:30am-noon we will join a group of about 20 girls getting all “prettied up” at Ego Trip Salon on W. Orange Street in Lancaster for The Princess Event at The Eden Resort Saturday night.  It’s a Teen Haven Lancaster event where the girls will experience a dinner & dance with their father or a father-like figure.  Learn how Teen Haven Lancaster is pouring into Lancaster city teen girls.

Don’t forget that the last KCB Roller Skating Party of the season is coming up next Saturday, April 1 from 10-noon at Castle Roller Skating.  I hope to see you there!  Rumor has it that Radio Friend Phil & family might make an appearance to celebrate his birthday.

This weekend BEST OF KCB

LISA LANDIS~ Happy St. Patty’s Day!  With spring just 3 days away that’s a ton of white I’m seeing outside.  I know some of you are having fun in the snow.  Good for you!!!  I’m looking forward to the return of the green…grass, trees, flowers, etc.  Spring begins Monday!

This weekend it’s a BEST OF KCB.  Listen back to some of our favorite interviews from KCB Radio Field Trips.  I have to leave early this weekend, but never fear, Holly Ginder will be here to take your songs requests & give you chances to win.  Since it feels like Christmas again (cold & snowy 🙂 she will have some chances for you to win the KCB Christmas Cd.

Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary visits KCB

Lisa Landis~ Happy Friday Kids Cookie Breakers.  Can you believe the snow???  It is pretty, but KCB is ready for SPRING.  So is Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary.  Jesse will be here for the 10 o’clock hour to talk about what’s happening in the reptile world every spring.   Jesse has chances for you to win goodies from Forgotten Friend too. (Mom & Dad I promise no LIVE reptiles will be given away 🙂 )

SO many things to talk about Saturday.  PI DAY is coming up (March 14th 3.14) and St. Patty’s day coming up March 17th.  Songs tomorrow to celebrate!  And we will kick off the 9am hour with songs from the Veggie Tale JONAH film to celebrate JONAH opening this weekend at Sight & Sound Theatres.

LISA LANDIS~ Hi Kids Cookie Breakers!  I hope you had a wonderful week.  Did you celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday?  You are always welcome to post pics on the KCB Facebook page from Dr. Seuss Day if you have any.   You can also share your favorite Dr. Seuss books!  Mine is “And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street”, because I used to live on Mulberry Street downtown Lancaster 🙂  Speaking of downtown Lancaster did you hear that Tuk Tuk rides are coming soon to the city?  Tuktuk Lancaster is brought to you by Timm and Kristina Wenger. You know them from the educational organization Kids and Cultures &  from Taste the World, walking and sampling tours in downtown Lancaster.  Timm stops by KCB for the 10 o’clock theme party to talk about Tuk Tuk Lancaster tours coming soon.  I rode a Tuk Tuk in Guatemala and India, now I can ride one in Lancaster City!  Crazy cool!!!

This weekend is also SPY SATURDAY.  Listen each hour to crack THE SECRET DECODER SONG PUZZLE.  We  are also bringing back the KCB CONUNDRUM for SPY SATURDAY.

Cookies & a Movie this weekend on KCB

LISA LANDIS~Greetings “Cookie Breakers”!  I feel like I should say, “Happy Spring” with this BEAUTIFUL weather we’ve been having.  I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and 70degree temps today!  I also hope you can make The Kids Cookie Break a part of your Saturday morning tomorrow from 9-noon.  It’s “Cookies & a Movie” as we theme up the music on this Oscar weekend.  Local KCB Girl Scouts also stopping by the studio with chances to win Girl Scout Cookies.  We will theme up the music with songs from movies AND cookie songs.

Lisa Sanchez of Lancaster Parks & Rec visits KCB Saturday

LISA LANDIS~  Happy Thursday Kids Cookie Breakers.  (and to some of you Happy Snow Day). It’s GREAT to be back!  Fred & I had an amazing time with Compassion International in Guatemala with our sponsored girls. It was fun to visit the zoo with our girls and meet their moms and visit their homes. But it’s always good be home and I’m excited to be back in the KCB host seat this weekend as we welcome Lisa Sanchez (Park Naturalist) of Lancaster County Parks & Recreation.  Lancaster County Dept. of Parks and Recreation has a fabulous environmental education team with affordable family fun activities.  Lisa will talk about some of the programs available in February & March.  Sign up to receive their emails to stay in touch with what’s happening each and every month.  Lancaster County Parks & Rec is located at:

KCB goes “Around the World” in 60 seconds

LISA LANDIS~ Hola!  Bonjour!  Hodi! Konnichiwa! Ciao Kids Cookie Breakers!  This weekend KCB goes “Around the World” in 60 seconds. That means The 10 o’clock theme party will have an international flavor with songs celebrating kids all over the world.  Fred & I are jumping on a plane Saturday and flying to Guatemala with Compassion International.  I can’t wait because we are delivering gifts to kids that many of you helped sponsor at the GU-501 project.  We will send plenty of pictures & video to the KCB Facebook page.

KCB is in good hands with Jenn & Donovan this weekend.  Listen to win prizes & request songs after I kick off the 9 o’clock hour.
